South African Citizen Services


Citizen (or civic) services refer to the services provided to South African citizens by the Department of Home Affairs.

South African citizens who are currently residing in Sweden or Latvia may contact the Consular Section of the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa in Stockholm with regard to applications for the following South African documents:

  1. Passport
  2. Child passport
  3. Temporary passport
    (Please note that the following countries no longer recognise South African temporary passports:
    United Kingdom, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg, Germany, France and Canada)
  4. Emergency passport (travel certificate)
  5. Birth registration
  6. Identity document
  7. Full (unabridged) birth certificate
  8. Full (unabridged) marriage certificate
  9. Full (unabridged) death certificate
  10. Marriage registration
  11. Confirmation of marital status
  12. Acquisition of South African citizenship
  13. Loss of South African citizenship
  14. Retention of South African citizenship
  15. Exemption from the loss of South African citizenship
  16. Renunciation of South African citizenship
  17. Resumption of South African citizenship
